Postin' by the ocean...uhm, I mean lake (Erie)

It is tradition, for any Williams College almost-graduate, to take a weeklong trip of relaxation after their last finals period. Some choose to travel south to the land of endless sand and forgetfulness, yet others meander northward seeking inward peace and calm. The adventurous went abroad and came back speaking spanish. Finally, there are a small few who choose to travel west, cramped in tiny cars filled with baggage, driving nine, perhaps even ten hours straight, only to arrive...

here.

Welcome to the House of Huron. Our grandmother's friend was kind enough to share with us her humble abode by Lake Erie.

Deena's hair is the best! I just had to point that out. Actually, everyone on this trip had amazing hair...weird...

The octogonal tower. The house's architecture was striking and elegant.

Did you guess, strawberry, banana, hershey chocolate chunks pancake? Yes indeed.

Pro. Nuff said.

Let me bore you with some pictures from the backyard.

This bird family became part of our extended family. Mom, dad, and three cubs?

We were happy to see this beautiful bird family because early in the trip we had found a young dead bird in the freezer (grandma was trying to preserve it for the local nature reserve and forgot all about it).
Inspired by this tragic loss, Ali and Chie (two leftmost) devised a wonderful "Murder Mystery Dinner" for when the Sinicariello family visited us.

We had all sorts of characters ranging from bird spirit, a chef (not a cook!), the countess, a psychoanalyst, a 6-year old, a deaf-mute guitar, and a make-up artist from the Bronx.

It was a blast. We ate amazingly, played hours upon hours of ping-pong, and even jammed for a while.

The next morning, Meg had a huge craving for hummus! HUMMUS!

while Ali and Deena turned tribal.

Post-modern art work on rock.

We did a lot of chillin' by the lakeside.

A clear divide on this next one...

It's called acro-yoga.

One day we travelled to a nature preserve.

Ali and Chie had a free photoshoot!

Overall, this week was absolutely wonderful. Each day that went by would bring us even more opportunities for relaxing and appreciating all that we had been gifted, and all that surrounded us.

At the day's end, it was hard to distinguish the real from the dream...
